HON'BLE UNION MINISTER SHRI JYOTIRADITYA M. SCINDIA VIRTUALLY INAUGURATES UPGRADED KANKURGACHI SUB POST OFFICE AND LAUNCHES "DAK SEVA AND DAK MITRA" APP

​The Kankurgachi Sub Post Office, Kolkata-700054, has been upgraded in accordance with the School of Planning and Architecture Design Manual and has been virtually inaugurated as a modern postal service centre on 24.08.2026, equipped to provide a wide range of citizen-centric services.


​The revamped Sub Post Office is housed in a Departmental Building spread over 2,763 sq. ft. of encroachment-free land and premises. Located on CIT Road, Kolkata the Kankurgachi Sub Post Office is one of the city's important delivery post offices. The facility has been designed to provide convenient, efficient and technology-enabled postal and financial services to the people of the area.


​The Hon'ble Union Minister of Communications & DONER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, in the august presence of the Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Communications & Rural Development, Shri Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, has virtually inaugurated the upgraded Kankurgachi Sub Post Office, Kolkata-700054, alongwith other 13 Post offices across India, and has also launched the "Dak Seva and Dak Mitra" app on 24.08.2026.


​The virtual inauguration programme has also been witnessed by Dr. Tapas Roy, Hon'ble Minister of Trade, Industry & Commerce, Govt. of West Bengal, as Chief Guest of local function of Kankurgachi Sub Post Office, along with Shri Ashok Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle and other eminent dignitaries.

Narayana Hospital, Barasat, Saves a Stroke Patient with Successful Rare Heart Tumour Surgery

Barasat, January xx 2025 - Narayana Hospital, Barasat, successfully performed a life-saving heart surgery to remove a rare left arterial Myxoma (heart tumour) from a stroke-affected woman. The complex procedure led by Dr Arunansu Dhole, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, overcame significant risks and delivered a positive outcome, restoring the patient’s health and mobility. The woman was admitted with right-sided hemiplegia (paralysis on the right side of her body) caused by an embolic stroke, where tumour-related clots blocked blood flow to the brain. Echocardiography revealed a large tumour, known as a left atrial myxoma, inside her heart. The tumour was 5 cm in size and had caused blood clots, which led to the stroke. After initial treatment, surgery was planned for a later date to allow her condition to stabilize.
